When it comes to revamping the laundry there are two main challenges, say many professionals.

Let’s face it, few of us get excited about laundry.

But whether it’s a cupboard off your bathroom, a hidden nook at the end of your kitchen, or a large dedicated space in your new-build home – it pays to plan.

Before you start

The laundry needs just as much consideration as any area. It is, after all, probably one of the hardest working areas of your home, particularly if you have a large family.

Planning really counts, says Christchurch-based joiner Glen Kelman, of Kitchen Concepts, especially if you are dealing with a “challenging” space.

He advises people to give serious thought to the layout first and foremost. “Do your research, talk to a joiner and really think about those appliances before you get started,” advises Kelman.
