BAY VILLAGE, Ohio — Bay Village Fire Chief Christopher Lyons and his department are offering tips to help prevent springtime home fires.
“The snow has melted, the plants are budding and the trees are blooming,” Lyons said. “Spring has arrived, and your thoughts may be turning to the dreaded spring cleaning. With it comes a timely reminder to keep your home safe from the threat of fire.”
The department has put together a list of fire safety information for this time of year.
“First, take the opportunity to clean out your basement, garage and attic of those items you haven’t used in years,” Lyons said. “All that extra ‘stuff’ — including newspapers — just takes up space and can collect dust and mold spores and will serve as extra fuel in the event of a fire.”
